FRIDAY 30TH APRIL TO SUNDAY 2ND MAY

Yes, we know it’s earlier than our usual July holiday slot, but no major events may be staged over the FIFA World Cup 2010, including the week beforehand and a week after, in terms of agreements signed between all South African host cities and FIFA.

The week we’ve chosen includes two public holidays – Freedom Day on Tuesday the 27th of April, and Workers Day on Saturday the 1st of May – so there should be plenty of tourists around, having taken off the days in-between.

The Show will once again take place at the Durban Marina only – it worked very well last year, and it’s going to work even better in 2010, as a huge new parking area is currently under construction right next to the Boat Show site! It’s scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2010, so we’ll have more than enough parking available at the Show – a huge plus factor!

Another exciting addition to the 2010 Show is the introduction of a Boat and Classic Car Auction at around 3:30 on the Sunday afternoon. Run by Consolidated Auctioneers – specialists in the Classic Car auction field – this event is sure to attract many more up-market buyers to the Show from around the country, as the event will be advertised extensively in major Gauteng newspapers.

The Consolidated Auctioneers Boat and Classic Car Auction:

Please note the following conditions:
No competitive boats will be allowed on the Auction. This means that - for instance - a Bavaria will not be accepted onto the Auction if Bavaria are exhibiting on the Show, unless Bavaria themselves are putting up the boat on the Auction. This clause will hold true for all exhibitors booking and paying for their stands by the 15th of March 2010. The proviso falls away after this date. Please phone the organisers to check who is exhibiting.
Larger boats on moorings will be available for viewing by all visitors in a special section of the moorings (R1200 per metre beam).

Trailered boats will be displayed in the vicinity of Cafe Fish within the Show area (R1500 per boat).
If a successful sale is made on the auction, the above fees will be refunded to the seller.
All boats on auction have to be licensed, sea-worthy and in top condition - no wrecks will be accepted.
The reserve price must be reasonable, a minimum of 25% less than the price of the boat as new.
An auctioneer's commission will be charged to the buyer, over and above the purchase price.
All boats on auction must be on display for the full duration of the Show.
Smaller items relating to the industry - eg, navigational equipment, fishing equipment, skis etc - can be placed on the Auction for no fee. Should you wish to donate all or a portion of the sale price to the NSRI, this will be much appreciated.
